Torres Atlantico was recognized for the uniqueness of the project and its impact on the West Africa Nation of Angola. The project is said to exemplify a new idea in expatriate communities. Designed as a regional headquarters for three major oil companies, Sonangol, Essoand BP, the Class A office building with attached condominium tower meets the client’s in-country needs for visibility and profile. The project consists of an 18-story office tower, 15-story residential tower and five-level parking garage.
Together with main contractor Soares da Costa and EDI Achetecture the TROX type AWG weather louverwith minor design changes including welded cornersand additional mesh fastners, was extensively used on the perimeter of the building for generator rooms andextract shafts. Due to harsh conditions TROX products were supplied in mill finishes and powder coated by Polynam(Pty) Ltd.
Further products supplied on this building include TROX type WG-E (stainless steel weather louvers), type AE (egg crate aluminium grilles) and type ARK (pressure relief dampers – in aluminium). Together with all grilles and louvers concealed fastners were used as fixingarrangements to already installed framework.
